Dublin’s northside has many of historic areas to shop in. Usually, folk would land on O’Connell street and make their way to the big shops like Arnotts and Cleary’s. As time carried on, some shops left and some newer designer boutiques took their place. However, Moore street will never change, and proud Dubliners hope it never does. As with the antique shops on Francis street, the shops are the antiques in many people’s minds. Nowadays, the streets of Dublin 1 have a contemporary design, and a modern feel to them. The clean shopping centres breath a fresh tone to the stores.

Dating back to 1843, Arnotts Department Store is another Dublin shopping destination that is packed full of history. Home to a plethora of Irish and international brands, restaurants, beauty service providers and even a travel agent, Arnotts Department Store offers a unique shopping experience in the heart of Dublin’s northside.

Arnotts is found on Dublin’s Henry street. The street itself has a number of independent shops and street traders offering their latest fare the people of the north city.

It houses stores in Fashion, Footwear, Home, Technology as well as a supermarket. Food options are plentiful in the Ilac centre, really making this a one stop shop for your shopping trip to the city.

There was a chapel in the centre right up until 2019 before it closed. The first floor of the centre is still home to the Dublin Central Library. The Ilac centre was hailed as one of the top shopping spots in Dublin when it opened, and paired with the Jervis centre across the road, it’s easy to see why.
