Make the most of the upcoming March Bank Holiday weekend in Dublin. This St.Patrick’s Day weekend has the potential to be a blockbuster! Although cooler, the city is heating up as it gets ready to welcome more than 100,000 visitors for the St. Patrick’s Festival
St. Patrick’s Day Parade
The traditional parade is a tradition that is mirrored the world over, with Chicago, New York, Malta, Spain, Canada and even Korea all hosting their own events. On Monday 17th at 12pm the Dublin City parade starts.
In Blanchardstown, the parade will start at 12pm too, the route heading along the main street. Be sure to catch the green floats, and don’t forget to wear something green yourself!

Austrian Marching Band: Musikverein Kopfing
Explore a different culture as Musikverein Kopfing take to the streets of St. Stephen’s Green. A historical band originally formed in 1890, their 135 anniversary tour sees them march in the Parade on Monday too.
The Musikverein Kopfing will serenade the streets on Saturday at 16:30, on the streets of St. Stephen’s Green.

The Museum of Memorable Trees
A museum on wheels may not be what you would think of when you’re looking at trees. Don’t let this stop you from visiting the stories of these amazing trees that have woven themselves into people’s memories.
The curator will guide you through the story of seven dioramas hidden into this creative cycle. You can find it on Saturday and Sunday at the St Stephen’s Green Fusiliers’ Arch at 11:00 – 12:00 & 14:00 – 15:00.
The Big Dig
Pop over to the Wood Quay Amphitheatre on Saturday and Sunday between 11:00 – 16:00 to discover the budding archeologist in your kids. Children will dig through the site and unearth Viking treasures and artefacts dating over thousands of years old.
These free workshops over the March Bank Holiday Weekend are a great way to spark an interest in history to kids.


The Kane Sisters at Bewley’s Grafton Street
If you’re a first time visitor to Ireland for St. Patrick’s Day then you have to try get down to Bewley’s on Grafton street. Live trad music is paired with captivating melodies in one of the cities oldest cafes.
Call in for a cuppa on Sunday between 15:00 – 17:00 for a few tunes. There’s no booking required, but if you want to get a decent seat, it’s good to be early.

St Patrick’s Weekend at Collins Barracks
All throughout the weekend, the museum of Decorative art and History are showcasing Ireland. From free public tours that deal with symbolism of Ireland, to the Hands On interactive sessions.
A lot of the sessions are turn up on the day, however you can find all the details on the museum website, and book ahead where you need to.
